In honor of singing showtunes with roadnotes last night at Marie's Crisis, what books or other source texts would you like to see made into a musical? Especially fantasy or science fiction ones?
can't think right now (jsut got off overnight shift, should be in bed), but there is a German play version of Good Omens:) not sure if it's a musical, though. here's a link, but it's in German, so i don't know what it says, just the gist (that they're p-reforming Good Omens) http://www.theater-unikum.de/ein-gutes-omen-nach-terry-pratchett-und-neil-gaiman/
Well, if one is going to do Tigana, one should probably do A Song for Arbonne as well.
That said, in my experience, anything much longer than a novella (or at least the short end of novel) is changed signifigantly by being transformed into a musical because of how much ends up needing to be cut.
But Flowers for Algernon might be short enough.
The Thirteen Clocks by Thurber would be a lot of fun (In a very Once Upon a Matress kind of way.)
The Innkeeper's Song by Beagle might be interesting as well.
I want to see the Lion's Blood musical. Half the songs are written already anyway. It could be done a la Les Miserables, and I think it would be fantastic.

Anything in the Bordertown shared world stories would make a great musical.

I may well think of others.
