No offense intended to the Organization for Transformative Works, which is a cool project in its own right, but this sounds like what I was hoping OTW would be, and what I've been wanting for a long time without having the energy and time to start it myself. I hope there will be something useful I can do to support it besides give money.

I will be interested in seeing where this goes. And are they just going to provide legal/financial support to people who are being sued for(supposedly) using someone else's work, or will they act to generate legislation to support their position?

We shall see, I guess.
