In case you missed it, Joss hath announced: There shall be no Serenity until September 30. Wherefore I am alone and palely wandering into a hedge, or something like that. Sulky knights get all the best scenery.

*pouts* Damned stupid marketing reasons. How many space westerns with quippy yet disillusioned anti-heroes could there possibly be coming out in late April?

Wait. I take that back, or there'll be six.

Anybody in the Greater NYC area want to make an opening night outing of it, when it finally does arrive?

*grin* Yes, I am, and yes, he does. It's called Serenity, and the info is at www.serenitymovie.com. It's based on his (now cancelled, but out on DVD) TV series Firefly, but I'm sure you don't have to have seen it to get or enjoy the film.

thanks!
Wasn't that show suppossed to be kind of horrible though? I never watched it, just heard some bad things.

I quite liked it, though I think it suffered in its original airing from the fact that the network refused to start with the pilot, which gives the context to make you care about the characters. (Also the Friday night scheduling didn't help).

On TV they didn't air the pilot until last, and while I never would have said it was horrible, I didn't fall in love with it till then -- when they'd already announced the show was cancelled. On the DVDs you see the pilot first, and it really makes a big difference.

For what it's worth, I've never met anyone who disliked it. Everyone I know who's seen it has loved it. (Although I think the DVD collection helps; it's nice to see them in order, and the network apparently scheduled it bizarrely.) YMMV and all, of course. :)
