Joyce estate plans to sue if Joyce is read aloud on Bloomsday. Ah, my kingdom for a suitably obscure and whimsical way to say "get stuffed." How I long for the days when copyright only lasted 14 years, plus another 14 if re-registered by a living author. Link from

Tennessee County wants to charge homosexuals with crimes against nature. This is the same county that produced the infamous Scopes Monkey Trial. They keep using that word, nature. I do not think it means what they think it means. (Thanks to [Bad username or site: mintwitch for the info, and <i @ livejournal.com]The Princess Bride for the mangled quote.)

Date: 2004-03-17 06:31 pm (UTC)The bill was initially sent to the Committee on Swamp Lands, which passed it to the Committee on Education, which gave it a “pass” recommendation and sent it on to the full House, which approved it unanimously.
In the state Senate, the bill got looked at by a professor of mathematics who was visiting. The professor described the bill’s author as crazy, and the bill got no farther.
