I don't know if it is a cause of that attitude in a generation influenced by Heinlein or a symptom of a wider generational attitude that he shared, but, yes.
I have a copy of the book that I am certainly not keeping, so you're welcome to it if you want. But I don't know that it's worth it. It's not really developed much beyond what we've already said. And having spent the emotional energy wasn't sufficient to get you there in the flesh... you needed a McGuffin device for that. But when you got there via MGD, they remembered you.
