The New Orleans Public Library is asking for any and all hardcover and paperback books for people of all ages in an effort to restock the shelves after Katrina. The staff will assess which titles will be designated for its collections. The rest will be distributed to destitute families or sold for library fundraising.

Please send your books to:

Rica A. Trigs, Public Relations
New Orleans Public Library
219 Loyola Avenue
New Orleans, LA 70112

If you tell the post office that they are for the library in New Orleans, they will give you the library rate which is slightly less than the book rate.

Thanks for posting this. I'm going to link to it in my journal, if that's ok. Unfortunately, I just donated the last of my culled books to my local library last weekend. Still, I'm sure I'll have other to get rid of in the months to come.

ACK! I knew I was late, but eek, you appear to have actually left lj... and only a couple weeks ago!

Back last winter (that'd be winter 2004-2005) I ran the Slashwedding Ficathon. I had your assignment. It was incomplete.

Inexcusably, it took me forever to get back to it due to huge looming writer's block, but, over a year late, I posted the rest of it today (http://bookishwench.livejournal.com/206699.html).

I apologize profusely.
