Quote of the Evening

The fact of the matter is that the people who struggle most with writing are drunks. They get hammered at night and in the morning their heads are full of pain and adverbs.

If I can remember how to change my journal name, Pain and Adverbs it shall be.

I am not a drunk. My drugs of choice are cigarettes, carbs, and comfort reading. But it's probably true, as the post goes on to say, that I would find golf or planting alfalfa equally difficult. Particularly when you consider my fear of bugs and total lack of hand-eye coordination.

tin cans and string are poised for a comeback

I know everyone's already blogged about this, but the NSA is spying on the call records of 200 million Americans. 200 million. Isn't that, you know, everybody?

We only *have* 298,718,780 people, and 72,293,812 of those are children. Granted some kids have phones of their own, but when you consider that 25 percent of low income black and hispanic people don't own a telephone, it seems fairly clear that the set of all people they're *not* monitoring the call records of pretty much = the set of all people who don't have call records. And Qwest subscribers. Bless Qwest. I've never heard of them before, but if they exist in my area I may have to switch.

Enough scary, time to finish packing. I'm going out of the country this weekend. Just to visit friends, not to avoid my incriminating phone trail. (Note to NSA -- kidding. Please don't arrest my cat while I'm gone.)
