I have no veins

My work had a blood drive. I'm afraid of needles, but I promised myself when mom had her operation that I'd give blood now that I'm eligible. And I tried! But even the guy who draws blood for a living couldn't strike oil.

He said my veins are smaller than the needle. How is the blood getting through? Perhaps it's time to start weight lifting.
