Mer reads the New York Times:

"Representative Ernest Istook, Republican of Oklahoma, said he planned to try to revive a proposed constitutional amendment to permit government displays of the Commandments as well as school prayer and the recitation of the phrase 'under God' in the Pledge of Allegiance.
'Those people who want to express their religious beliefs on public property should enjoy the same rights that we provide to those protesting the war in Iraq,' Mr. Istook said."

Dude, I get to put up a permanent statue in a courthouse protesting the war in Iraq? At government expense? Why didn’t anybody tell me? I’ll call the sculptor right now!

*And* I get to make school kids all over the country recite “America’s war in Iraq is wrong” every morning?

Or this is a false analogy. No one, that I’m aware of, is suggesting a ban on individuals expressing their religious beliefs on public property. What the Court has ruled unconstitutional is the government itself espousing religious beliefs, or giving them preferential treatment.

Yay Rhode Island! [medical marijuana]

How cool does Spore sound? I’m not usually much of a gamer, but want want want.

Secular summer camp. Not that I’m not all for it, but we need this now? Is it that I’m in the Northeast or has the country’s mood changed that much? ‘Cause in six years of going to four summer camps, I only remember anyone mentioning God once – a poor shy Mormon girl who was so oppressed by her obligation to proselytize that she could hardly talk to anyone.

Also I’m way too fond of the phrase "two invisible unicorns in residence" to want to disprove them. *pets the nonexistent invisible unicorns* *feeds them nonexistent invisible carrots*
